New Community Challenge for 2013

Make a difference to your local community in 2013

We are pleased to announce that BSEE and Baxi Commercial Division are collaborating again to offer one lucky reader the chance to help out their community! If you know of a local voluntary funded organisation that operates out of a building with poor heating and/or hot water provision, you could help them by entering the 2013 Baxi Community Challenge to win a commercial sized central heating boiler or water heater.

The winner could be any one of a diverse number of organisations from a scout/guide hut, a recreation field pavilion, a band hut, a youngsters' football changing facility, a children's arts & crafts recycling centre, a village museum, club halls and many more. But if you don't put them forward we won't know about them and they will miss out on this tremendous opportunity. Entries are not restricted to registered charities and we would be happy to hear about any community projects where new space heating and/or hot water provision would make a real difference to the people using the building.

Baxi Commercial Division offers one of the broadest ranges of commercial high efficiency condensing boilers and direct fired water heaters, together with compatible low and zero carbon solutions, currently available in the UK.

Requirements for entry

What will it cost? It will cost you nothing financially to enter the competition and your involvement in terms of time need be nothing beyond completing the on-line entry form. Who can you help? Any 'worthy cause' that operates out of a building which needs a new 'commercial- sized' gas-fired water heater or boiler.

What are the main criteria? The community building must have a suitable gas supply and the building must be suitable for a commercial size heating unit. Who should
complete the entry form? Preferably, but not necessarily, someone with guidance from a 'competent' heating engineer.

The Baxi Community Challenge is easy to enter, simply visit the BSEE website and complete the on-line entry form. This will ask you to tell us about the cause you have nominated as well as the details we need to know about the building and its existing heating provision. Then wait for us to contact you. Entries must be received by the end of March and we will feature some of the applicants in subsequent issues of BSEE before announcing the winner later in the year.

How to enter

You will be asked to provide the following details:

  1. The name of the cause represented, the address, web address (if applicable) and description of the building/location.
  2. Details of the aims and work carried out by the cause and on whose behalf (in no more than 200 words).
  3. How long the cause has been established?
  4. How long the cause has had use of the existing building and its facilities? /More
  5. Do you have (a) gas (b) LPG (c) electric only (d) oil
  6. Describe existing heating and hot water systems and their performance.
(Please let us know the current manufacturer, make, model - this will help us determine an appropriate replacement product)
  7. State the reason why a replacement system would benefit the cause, and what difference new equipment would make.
  8. Your name and address and full contact details including email.

Rules:

  • Only one entry per reader please
  • All entries must be received no later than 31st March 2013.
  • By entering you agree to your project being featured in BSEE if it is shortlisted or if it is the eventual winner.

So, what are you waiting for? In this age of austerity, why not take up the challenge in 2013 to help make a difference to a worthy cause in your community.
