New courses at Training Academy

21/01/2009

The Baxi Commercial Training Academy, believed to be the first of its kind in the commercial heating and hot water sector, is a specially developed state of-the-art training facility incorporating many of the current products in both the Andrews Water Heaters and Potterton Commercial ranges. The Academy offers 17 live-installed products with flueing, hydraulic and electrical connections and now has the distinction of being a British Plumbing Employees Council (BPEC) centre.

The BPEC representative who recently conducted an inspection of the premises was impressed with the breadth of equipment and number of operational units Baxi Commercial Division had to offer, which permit comprehensive training to be delivered on products, installation, commissioning, servicing and fault finding. Several professional courses and the certification process take place at the Training Academy and are handled by a BPEC Trainer and Assessor.

The BPEC courses initially available include Unvented Systems, Water Regulations and Water Treatment as well as New Legislation and Regulations (Part L). The Unvented Systems training can now be offered as a one day course, making it much more time and cost effective.

Baxi Commercial Division runs training courses on all Andrews Water Heaters and Potterton Commercial heating equipment, including LZC technologies such as SOLARflo solar thermal and the GaeaTherm ground source heat pump which it is anticipated will soon be accredited by BPEC. These can be customised to suit the specific requirements of larger end user organisations, M&E contractors, Specifiers, Design Engineers, and merchants.

Practical training is supported by theory sessions in the luxurious, air conditioned presentation room that is fully equipped with internet access and a plasma flat screen for PowerPoint presentations. This has also proved to be a perfect environment for CPD courses and several CIBSE recognised Andrews Water Heaters and Potterton Commercial seminars are held in the Academy.

Working in association with APHC and SNIPEF, BPEC is a body dedicated to supporting quality education and training initiatives and is responsible for a range of assessments and certifications for the Building Services Engineering Sector.
